A dangerous game?

Roblox, a game children play online. Parents are concerned about hackers accessing children's accounts, and video game addiction.

One of my colleagues has alerted me to a game called ‘Roblox’, which is widely played by children online. Apparently there have been numerous attempts to hack her children’s account for this game, which could potentially give a stranger the opportunity to impersonate the players. Luckily the attacks did not succeed as all the safeguards were in place.

I thought I would pass this on in case any pupils were playing this game. It seems the dangers of online gaming are growing – recent reports have pointed to a sort of addiction that can afflict young people, with damaging effects on their progress and general wellbeing. There is also the danger of online predators trying to gain access to children’s accounts.

I am sure all our parents will ensure they are aware of these dangers and that parental controls are in place if pupils are participating in this activity.
