Years 3 and 4 in the greenhouse
Mrs Gunn took Years 3 and 4 pupils to Mr Young’s greenhouse today, where the children helped to pot on some flower seedlings to provide extra colour in our gardens before the end of the summer term. The pupils also planted some seeds of their own – chillis, carrots and other good things to eat – that’s what they are doing in these photos. Some of the produce will be used in the wheelbarrow plantings we are planning for the Royal Norfolk Show in June – watch this space for news about this!
Sports Results: U16 netball v Taverham High School
The U16 netball team had their second game of the new year yesterday against Taverham High School.
Sadly we were not victorious this time, but managed to sustain a strong amount of enthusiasm and determination throughout a tough match. Well done, girls, for your resilience in the face of
adversity.
Player of the Match is awarded to Alice for her agility and stamina.
Team: Brontë S (didn’t play), Hannah Y, Philippa H, Alice P, Ria S, Tayla D, Aisling K, Sofia G, Amy H.

Prep School Christingle Service this afternoon
We are so looking forward to our beautiful Christingle service at 2.00pm at St Remigius Church this afternoon and seeing all our Lower Prep families.
All children from Nursery to Year 6 have been making their Christingles at school and brought in their Christingle candles, kindly filled with spare change at home (thank you!). Here are some of them waiting to go to the church later. All proceeds to go to The Children’s Society.
HOHS getting ready for Pudsey
Today is Pudsey Bear’s special day and pupils and staff have been busy organising activities to support Children in Need. Look out for pictures later of our Prep pupils’ ramble round our beautiful grounds! Meanwhile, here are the beginnings of our Pennies for Pudsey activity – and Lacey (Reception) with her spotty-eared headband ready to do her bit!
Open Morning procedure for pupils
Just a reminder to all our pupils (from Reception – Year 13) who are coming into school tomorrow for our Open Morning.
Please arrive at school from 9.30 – 9.45 am, come in through the side gates and go straight to your form room for registration at 10.00am before joining the teacher you are helping. At the end of the event, please let your teacher know you are leaving and go out via side gates not through Reception.
If you are acting as a guide, please come to the entrance hall at 9.45 to register with Mrs Jones.
Please remember to wear your full uniform including hats and blazers and make sure you’re looking extra neat and tidy.
Visitors and parents – please take extra care…
Many of our blog readers will already be aware that Anglian Water are working on the roadside just outside our school and have put temporary traffic lights in place. The work is nothing to do with the school but we have had concerns about cars getting in and out of our entrance safely. We have consulted with Anglian Water about this and they have been very helpful. Today they moved the position of the traffic lights to give clearer visibility on exiting the school; they have also put some extra signs in place alerting other drivers to the fact that traffic from the school is not controlled by the lights. The work is likely to continue for a few more days, so please take extra care when dropping off and picking up your child.
Nature lovers’ ramble for the last weekend of the holidays…?
With just a few days of holiday left – hopefully at least some of them sunny and warm – we can’t resist sharing a post from the Hethersett Birding blog. If you haven’t discovered the little Ladybelt Country Park (on Hethersett road just beyond Ketteringham towards East Carleton), it is well worth a look. Perfect for a gentle family stroll, with or without a four-legged friend and definitely with your camera! Click the picture below to read the post and see some great bird pictures the author has taken there.

Sports Results: U15 rounders v City of Norwich School
On Thursday last week, our U15 rounders team played Thetford Grammar School -unfortunately losing our fixture by half a rounder! The Player of the Match accolade went to Aisling Kendall who managed to bowl both innings without giving away any half rounders – a very difficult task, well done! Other notable performances came from Alice Parker who took two great catches and Amy Hayhoe who scored two and a half rounders.
